Hey JB,
I've been thinking about our journals from the summers you were gone and I thought it would be a great tradition to continue online! So, here's my first entry.
Tonight Joy and I went out to Glistening Waters, a tour company that takes you out in a boat to a place called the Luminous Lagoon. It's one of only four places in the world where the conditions are just right to support a population of bioluminescent microorganisms year-round! Our captain, Jerry, took us out there and sang Bob Marley songs the whole time, and of course everyone on the boat joined in. The boat left a neon blue wake and we could see the squiggling, zigzagging trails of fish as they swam away from us. When we got out into the middle we were allowed to jump off the boat and swim, which is supposed to make the women ten years younger and the men three inches longer! I'm not sure about all of that, but Junebug, it was a MIRACLE.
Every move you make out there is tracked by this trail of otherworldly blue, almost like St. Elmo's Fire...and when you make bubbles from swimming and splashing, they trickle up to the surface like shimmering blue glitter. It was a day for thinking of you, because I think you would have felt exactly the same way about it that I did. Also, earlier, I was swimming in the big ocean out front of our hotel at sunset when the water turns to quicksilver and I suddenly remembered that time we just floated forever out at Marine Street at exactly that time of day.
Anyway, I hope you're settling in and the excitement is carrying you through all the stress and uncertainty of the move. I know you're going to thrive their--our loss is Oz's gain. Miss you tons, Potatobug
